Pupil Premium Allocation, Use and Impact on Attainment

Pupil Premium Eligibility

Following changes to Free School Meal eligibility from September 2026, schools receive Pupil Premium funding for pupils in the following categories:

• Targeted Free School Meals (FSM): pupils from households receiving Universal Credit with annual household earnings of £7,400 or less. 

• Ever 6 FSM: pupils who have been eligible for Targeted FSM at any point during the previous six years. 

• Looked After Children (LAC): pupils who are currently in the care of a local authority. 

• Previously Looked After Children (PLAC): pupils who have left care through adoption, a special guardianship order, or a child arrangements order.

• Service Children: pupils with a parent serving in the Armed Forces, or who have served within the previous six years.

Please note: From September 2026, children entitled to Expanded FSM (households receiving Universal Credit but not meeting the Targeted FSM earnings threshold) are entitled to free school meals but do not attract Pupil Premium funding for schools.

How We Use Pupil Premium Funding

Pupil Premium funding is used to improve educational outcomes for disadvantaged pupils, helping to overcome barriers to learning and ensuring that all children have the opportunity to achieve their full potential. We carefully monitor the impact of our spending and publish an annual Pupil Premium Strategy Statement detailing how funding is allocated and the difference it makes to pupils' attainment, progress and wider outcomes.
