History

Discovering the Past, Understanding the Present

At Welsh House Farm Community School and Resource Base, we believe that history helps children understand the world around them by exploring how people, events and societies have shaped the Britain we live in today. Through our curriculum, pupils become curious historians who ask questions, examine evidence and develop an appreciation of the past.

Using the Developing Experts History Curriculum, learning is carefully sequenced to build knowledge over time. Children explore significant people, historical events and civilisations while developing key disciplinary skills such as interpreting sources, identifying similarities and differences, understanding chronology and evaluating historical significance.

Our history curriculum encourages pupils to:

Geography

Exploring Our World, Shaping Our Future

At Welsh House Farm Community School and Resource Base, we believe that geography inspires children to understand the world, its people and the environments we share. Through geography, pupils develop a sense of curiosity about different places, cultures and global issues while learning how human actions affect our planet.

Using the Developing Experts Geography Curriculum, pupils build their knowledge progressively from local studies to global understanding. Children investigate physical and human geography, use maps and fieldwork skills, explore environmental issues and consider how communities can create a more sustainable future.

Our geography curriculum enables pupils to:
