Geography

At Welsh House Farm Community School, we aim to develop young geographers that have a curiosity and a fascination about the world and its people. Children will develop their geographic knowledge by building upon their observations of their everyday geography to understanding the locations, places and geographical features of the world around them.

Children will learn through a wide range of experiences such as climbing the Welsh mountains, using VR headsets to observe Aboriginal life or holding the exotic creatures from the rainforest. This will enable children to have a deep understanding of how things happen, why and where.

Through developing children’s critical thinking skills, the curriculum will teach children to think geographically and gain real sense of what a place is actually like.

Children will develop compassion and empathy through understanding how people and different geographic processes affect global change and the role they play in making the world a better place to live.
